Auction Block: Rare 1970 Ford Mustang Mach I Cobra Turbo Jet
The 1969-1970 model years were great for the Mustang with Ford really busting out some fantastic cars like this Mach I Turbo Jet, the Boss 429 and Boss 302 among others. These cars can grace museums and draw quite a crowd at any car show or event. This Mach I Turbo Jet, as it is commonly called, has a 428 Super Cobra Jet/Drag Pack, and it is indeed limited and collectible.
Only 857 were produced total, 50 in the gold and black paint shown here. However, only 2 of those 50 were built with the 4.30 Traction-Lok Rear Axle. That’s not all, out of those 2 only 1 was actually produced with Power Front Disc Brakes. Here she is.
And on top of all of that, it is in museum condition. It will be hitting the auction block in Mississippi next month at Cruisin’ The Coast event in Biloxi, Mississippi through Viciri Auctions. Expect the bidding to be intense while it fetches the big bucks. It will be accompanied by many other Mustangs and and 400+ hot rods, muscle cars, and classics.
Some more original parts of the Mach include four speed close ratio manual transmission and drag pack. More options are color-keyed racing mirrors, AM radio, sport suspension, console-mounted shift lever, instrument gauges, rocker panel moldings, rear deck lid tape stripe, rim blow-deluxe steering wheel, deep dish sports wheel covers and color-keyed carpet.
This thing is completely original with no restoration or upgrades whatsoever. It has seen the occasional sunny weekend and has been garage stored since it was bought back in the day.
How much do you think this bad boy will fetch?
