Behind The Wheel: March 2011 Mustang Of The Month
We have a pretty unique and purely beautiful Cobra reigning as March 2011 Mustang of the Month. At only 16 years of age, Mike Oldham, now 29, of Kansas City, Missouri had his heart set on finding a 1993 SVT Cobra. When a family member told him about a Cobra he had seen at a local dealership, Mike decided to give a look, although he was skeptical about the car. The car turned out to be a 1993 Cobra with only one previous owner and is #95 out of only 4993 made. This is 1 of only 185 made in this interior/exterior combination of teal/black. I’m sure it wasn’t difficult to hand over the cash for this beauty.
Once the car was purchased, the work began with replacement and restoration of various parts including new headlights and foglights, window trim, cowl panel, handles, badges, hatch struts, and intake plaque. Mirrors and wiper arms got a fresh coat of paint and so did the tail light assemblies. The Cobra now also has a Steeda Tri-Ax shifter and a pillar-mounted Autometer Oil Pressure Gauge.
Mike says the restoration process is almost complete. He has kept the car as original as possible and plans to hit some local shows in the summertime. The Cobra remains a garage queen and only sees the open road on beautiful, sunny days, which is definitely the kind of life this Mustang deserves. In years to come, Mike plans to pass on the Cobra to his son. May the legend live on!
