Custom 2012 Mustang Boss 302 Leather Interior By Katzkin
I have had this idea rolling around in my head for a long time – tattooing car interiors. It is leather, which is skin, right? Airbrush artists have been painting leather jackets for a long time now. So why do customizers leave interiors stock when they overhaul a car’s exterior? Am I crazy? Am I the only one?
Apparently someone else is a genius too, because while I am talking to one of the booth guys at Katzkin about tattooing leather, he says, “have you seen the Boss Mustang seat around the corner?” The what?
So he takes me around to the side of the SEMA booth where their concept line is displayed. And there, in all its glory, is a Competition Orange Mustang Boss 302 custom leather seat with the Boss logo emblazoned in black paint.
While it is only a concept for now while they test the durability of the new process, just imagine the possibilities that would open up for owners of Mustangs that have been longing to make their interiors as personal as their exteriors.
Another process Katzkin is developing is a tattoo style embossing, as seen on this Ford Focus front seat.
If you guys are interested in these processes and products, let me know, as I will be following up on this cool process as it develops.
