Lauren Alaina Picks Up Her “Idol” Prize: Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible

Posted by on September 25, 2011 - more

If you have kept up with this past season of American Idol, or not, you would know that 16-year-old Lauren Alaina placed second to Scotty McCreery during the big finale. It was a nail-biting season but Lauren didn’t totally lose out. Despite new-found fame and a new album coming out featuring Carrie Underwood, this high school girl has a lot to look forward to!

One of those things is a brand new 550-HP Shelby GT500 Ford Mustang convertible. She admitted to having her mom drive it home from the dealership but she is no stranger to a manual transmission, although only armed with a learner’s permit. Check out this lucky girl and her brand new Shelby Mustang!

May be too much ‘Stang for a high school student so hopefully she drives responsibly or doesn’t drive it at all!

Imagine the publicity – “high school girl in serious accident with car she had no business being behind the wheel of”. I’m surprised Ford chose that to give as a prize when they have so many other vehicles more appropriate for a high school kid.

It was hers to choose. It sounds like her mother has raised a responsible young woman and has helped her make some good choices in her life. Not all young people are irresponsible. She has a good future ahead of her and to deny her of her own choices (and her own mistakes) would be wrong. (In my opinion)

If you would have read the article, you would have known that the contestants received the vehicle of their choice. Not Fords choice.

Her MOTHER was with her when she chose the car so I’m sure her MOTHER will talk all precation to be sure her daughter is taught to be responsible as I’m sure she has.

shame on you Kyle Rohde, you do sound like a bitter failure, why should you wish the negative, this child has earned everything coming to her and her star shall continue to rise, get over yourself and learn to celebrate others!!!!

I believe both contestants got to choose which Ford vehicle they wanted.

Congratulations Lauren, nice pick. Just make sure you drive with care, although i know you will. You seem to be pretty responsible. Good Luck in your future singing career. You have a beautiful voice and I would love to see you and Scotty do some duets together. You two were great together on American Idol. :)

I am so happy for your success,  You pray God to continue blessing you and there will be no end to your happiness and life will be grand.   I am 66 and am looking forward to seeing your career.   Although my final votes were for Scotty,,l   I voted for you everyweek too.  You last 10 were the most talented kids I have ever seen in the 10 yrs on A Idol.  God Blessed you with all of that talent,  be sure to praise him daily for it.  Love you girl.  Cyndi Eberle-Waite from Georgia.
