Shelby Unveils 750+ Hp 2015 Super Snake
Today was a very exciting day for Shelby fans as the latest snake-infused Mustang has been revealed. The Super Snake is back for 2015 as a post title package from Shelby American in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bring your 2015 Mustang GT to Shelby, or have it delivered from Ford, and they will transform it into one of 300 Super Snakes slated to be produced. How much you ask?
Silly question. If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.
But seriously, the package price is $49,999. If you want to get all the pertinent information, you can check out the press release here.
When the teaser shot of a covered Mustang with an obviously modified hood made the rounds on Facebook yesterday, I was hoping it would the the return of the Terlingua Mustang featuring Ford’s new EcoBoost 4 cylinder, breathed on heavily by Shelby.
But alas, it was only another 750+ horsepower 5.0 V8 monster. Don’t get me wrong. A Mustang of any color is awesome. But for this guy (two thumbs pointing back at my chest), another supercharged Mustang full of carbon fiber body parts and Ford Racing go-fast pieces isn’t enough to make me moist.
Is it just me? I LOVE me some Shelby. I will never part with my 2008 Shelby GT.
But it almost feels like…(get ready for the rant) Shelby shot their load too early with the Shelby GT this year. Sure it’s fast. Sure it has exclusive Shelby parts. Sure it has pedigree and style. But with a starting price at $75,000, how many people are lining up to buy it?
Then Ford announces the GT350 and GT350R with an exclusive ground breaking engine, suspension and body parts for $20,000 less than the Shelby.
Did we hear the sound of human leather puckering at the Shelby headquarters?
I don’t have the numbers but it’s possible the final sales for the Shelby GT could be lower than the 2011 – 2014 Shelby GTS, GT, GT/SC Mustangs.
So now they are scrambling to come up with something that will outshine Ford’s epic GT350.
Of course there are Shelby guys who will be very happy to pay for whatever Shelby makes. And maybe that’s the point. The Super Snakes will always be exclusive and expensive. And this latest version is one of the most beautiful American Muscle Cars money can buy.
