Video: Classic Recreations Gives New School Power To 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500CR-900S
One aftermarket customization company, Classic Recreations out of Yukon, Oklahoma, is a pro at building high-performance aftermarket vehicles having more than 10 years experience in the business. They restore famous old-school ‘Stangs and provide them with new modern power!
This 2011 Classic Recreations Shelby GT500CR 900S model keeps that old-school look but if you glance under the hood, a modern monster of a motor is lying in wait. Classic Recreations installed a Shelby 427 7.0-liter V8 engine and paired it with a ProCharger centrifugal supercharger to put down an impressive 770-HP. They also installed a Tremec five-speed manual transmission but have an auto transmission readily available as an option.
Not only is the motor a beast but some other upgrades include an upgraded exhaust for that ground-rumbling growl and BBK ceramic-coated headers for a gain of 14-22 more rear wheel horsepower. Let’s not forget the coilover suspension, front and rear sway bars, and a set of wider tires to help stick that power to the ground.
Classic Recreations states that this new GT500 has genuine Carroll Shelby fiber glass enhancements for the exterior such as an extension of the nose to create more of a menacing look to the front end. The fiberglass hood is pin-secured with a large functional hood scoop and replaces the heavier stock steel hood.
This sinister Mustang also features Carroll Shelby GT500CR emblems and the Le Mans racing gas cap. Paint options and combos include gray/black red/white, blue/white, black/gray, and yellow/white, as well as custom color options. Whatever colors are chosen will be complemented by Shelby 427 wheels wrapped with Nitto high-performance tires, sized at 17×8 for the front and 17×11 for the rear. The Venom brake system includes slotted, cross-drilled with Shelby/Baer 14-inch two-piece rotors and six-piston calipers for the front and rear.
For a snazzy interior, the upgrades include Carroll Shelby’s signature race-style bucket seats, Venom interior badging, and a 200-mph speedometer. An aluminum steering wheel has been added along with five-point seat belts, a deluxe 1967 dashboard, door panels and trim. It also includes Carroll Shelby inscribed center console and floor mats. More goodies available for those with more cash to spend. Pricing begins at $199,000. But what a beauty!
MSN Autos recently named the 1967 Shelby G.T.500 the “ultimate muscle car.” The Shelby G.T.500CR-900S model starts with a legend, and injects it with modern supercar technology: a 770 horsepower supercharged engine, advanced multi-link race car inspired suspension, an oppulant interior and modern turn-key reliability.
