Why Mustang – By Kevin Schull For Mustang Evolution
Mustang Evolution proudly presents Kevin Schull, who will be the Next Big Thing in Mustang stories and articles.
Kevin has been a Mustang Guy for many many years. He is instrumental in the Golden Empire Mustang Club of Central California and has extensive experience with Mustangs. So sit back and enjoy the musings of a man who truly loves the cars, the heritage, the lifestyle that IS…Mustangs.
This is the question that I hope to chip away at. I would like to propose that one of the reasons that the Mustang has stood the test of time and held the imaginations of Americans and others abroad is the vast options open to the owners who drive and cherish them. Over the five decades that they have been in production the designs have appealed to all ages and both men and women alike. You can find a Mustang at any price range from very inexpensive to insanely expensive. You have the ability to make your Mustang any way you like with the vast aftermarket, and factory parts supply or the work and sweat of their owners.
The Mustang has been built and configured in so many ways as Race cars, Drag Racers, Drifters, and Road Racers. The Mustang has been low and slow, fast and lean and everything in-between. Outfitted with stereos to blow you away or equipment to enrich the driving experience Mustang has it all. Tech has been added by Ford and the aftermarket to satisfy all levels of need. I bet if take a moment you can picture a Mustang that made you think, WOW that is beautiful! Painted in all the colors of the rainbow the Mustang takes on the personality of their owners. The Mustang mods don’t stop there. Owners mod the suspensions and engines to make their cars stand out from the crowd. Over the years the Mustang has been designed to rule the road, or sip fuel. Today you can go and buy a Mustang that has over three hundred horsepower, and gets over thirty miles to the gallon or a four hundred and thirty horsepower car that says get out of my way. The new design has redefined the Mustangs reputation as a uncivilized, crude car, to that of a world class machine. When driven the car urges you to explore the boundaries of your driving skills yet forgives you when you get beyond them.
The Mustang is more than something you own or drive. The car becomes a member of the family to be loved and enjoyed. They are given as rewards or pasted along from one generation to the next. They sit in dark corners of shops and garages, in open fields waiting to find new lives, loving restored. They take us to the next chapters in our lives, or help us relive moments from our past. They bring us together. As sit there behind the wheel of your Stang and feel the wheel in your hand and row through the gates of the shifter you can’t help but get a smile on your face. Turn the key and the engine comes to life and the possibilities come to mind of where this machine can take you. Go and let your Mustang set you free.
Have you driven a Mustang lately?
