Turn, hazards, break lights

Hey all. I was rewiring the headlight switch on my 88 this morning. Got it all wired up again and now the turn signals, break lights, and hazards do not work. However, when I move the multifunction switch to activate the turn signal, I can hear the sound of a turn signal clicking as if they were working, but no lights appear on dash or on the exterior. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also grounded out a ground while working on the headlight switch which melted a ground wire all the way back behind the dash. Thank you in advance for any help or opinions as to what could be wrong..

Grabber is being a big help today....

You need to go back through, and carefully re-inspect your work. Make sure that the wires all got reattached to like colored wires etc. Also, check all of the related fuses, and the connector for the headlight switch, to make sure that it is undamaged.

You clearly did not ground a ground, or nothing would have happened. You short-circuited something with power. That ain't good, as you saw. It can do damage to any electrical component it was attached to.

Where to start....it could be a bunch of things but the best advice is what you've already received, go back and check your work. Something isn't connected to the thing it's supposed to be. Until you're sure this is right, don't connect power again. Check your circuits with a continuity checker before applying juice. A cheap voltmeter can be very helpful here

I actually did away with the headlight switch and put them on a toggle switch. The two grounds I just twisted together. The hazards end up blowing a fuse when putting them on, but the brake lights are working once I changed out a bad fuse.

Oh.
In that case, I recommend purchasing an OEM style headlight switch and connector from the auto parts store and wire everything to the factory wiring harness correctly.
