New edge headlight fog problem

Does anyone make a good headlight fir the SN95 new edge cars that doesn’t get hazy over time? I am so sick of pulling my headlights every year or so to sand them buff them and recoat them. There’s gotta be a better way. This sucks!

Are these your factory set or an aftermarket set?

Yeah, once you restore them, the clear coat is basically gone. That's where the ultraviolet protection is. The next time you restore them, you could try to following that up with a couple coats of clearcoat spray. That would help. The other thing you could try is apply a good paint sealant on them every month or so. Mine are new, but mine is also my weekend car, so it shouldn't be an issue. Even so, I coat mine with a paint sealant once or twice a year.

The restorer I use had a clear coat that you apply after buffing. It doesn’t last that long though. I can’t believe there’s no one out there that makes an assembly that doesn’t fog up line this. Ridiculous when you consider how much these pieces cost. Sort of pisses me off.

Speaking of fogging up...my LMR clear corner headlights fogged up inside terribly. I ended up getting a second set which fogged up as well. I ended up using 100% silicone caulk and sealed them up myself. I agree, it's ridiculous that these people can't put together a headlight housing. I nearly pulled the trigger and bought a set of Ford OEM housings hoping they would be as good as the original set as far as fogging up and lasting at least 10 years before hazing over. Those are like $450 lol.

I had this issue with my 99 Stang. I removed the headlight assemblies, sanded them down in progression, and layed 3 coats of clear on them. That was 2 years ago. They still look brand new. The car isn't garage kept.

Where do you order this clear coat spray?

I was going to ask the same thing. What type of clear are you using?

I dont remember the exact brand or type. I picked it up at an O'Reilly's auto parts store. My last (3rd) layer I sprayed on a bit heavy.

edit, thought it was for 94-98 cars.

Get the LRS reproduction headlights and then seal them with clear silicone around all the seams. Have not had any issues with this method.

Speaking of Raxiom, I have their Icon taillights for my 2002 GT. I had an issue with them initially - some of the mounting studs on them loosened and then were turning inside their threaded holes when I tried to tighten the nuts - but, that was only because I had problems with the (non-Raxiom) sequential turn signal harness I was trying to use with them, and had to install/remove the taillights like ten times. At first, American Muscle was hesitant about replacing them, but I got Raxiom involved, and they must've told AM to go ahead and replace them, because AM sent me a new set right away. I got a sequential harness from a different manufacturer, and installed the replacement Raxiom taillights. That was more than three years ago, and I haven't had a single issue with them.
