Possible fix I found is https://latemodel.cachefly.net/downl...sb12-01-17.pdf
I want to get some opinions from other owners if this is nothing to worry about. Some people on other sites have said its normal with VVTI engines and it may just be the injectors but to me it seems a lot like what is described in TSB 12-1-17 and really only is very loud on cold start. It tones down after warming up for about 5-10min.
I am concerned if I should be worried my engine is prematurely wearing out because of this like maybe it is not being properly lubricated until it warms up? I am not sure but it does not sound good, it sounds like it may be metal to metal contact. There is a short 10 second video below.
The car has ~22k miles on it and I store it in the garage over the winter, the battery died last night and when I started it up for the first time this noise was extremely loud but has since kind of toned down after warming up.
