Question 2011 Mustang V6 - Front End Clunk (Video) - Bad End Links?

Hey!

This forum has helped me in the past, so thought I'd try again.

Recently I noticed a clunk/bang sound when I turn the wheel (moving and parked) and am wondering what your thoughts are.

I inspected everything as I recently did a break job and nothing appeared damaged, but the end links did have some play to them.

Thoughts?

check your wheel liner. it could be rubbing/hitting against something when you turn the wheel. one thing to possibly rule out.

Thanks for the suggestion, after inspection I can say it's not the wheels rubbing.

Is this a normal sound? Truth be told, I didn't pay attention to this until I started working on my wife's suspension.

First make sure all your bolts are completely tightened. If the end links had play in them it is most likely this. End links on these cars go rather quickly, especially if lowered. Try tightening them all the way, when you think youve tightened it enough give it another push because if they arent completely tight you will keep getting clunking noises. From personal experience

Thank you for the suggestion.

I'll give them a few cranks after work and see if the noise persists. Car isn't lowered but there are 117K miles on the end links and from time to time I drive it like I stole it....so I guess that the joints could honestly be warn.

I'll report back the results.

Have a 2012 and was getting the clunk from the rear of my car, had less than 50K miles, and after changing the end links the problem was solved. The one that was bad did not seem to have any play in it but there must have been just enough to cause the problem.

Did you check the front brake components to make sure they are properly torqued (caliper pin bolts and caliper bracket bolts)?
