Can i fix this by myself?

Hello, in an unfortunate event, my 5 day old 2014 mustang got into an accident with a bus. Attached are the pictures of damages and i was wondering if this could be fixed with or without buying new parts. The driver size fender and front bumper was damaged. The fender has pushed in, i have uploaded a picture of the spacing between the fender and the door which shows the fender moved backwards. Another question is if the fender moved backwards, how is my driver side headlight caved inside the fender? Does that mean it caved in too?

Ahh yes. I remember that "inexperienced driver surcharge" when my kids first got their licenses. Here in NC they had to go 3 years without an accident or moving violation. Luckily for them (and me), they did it.

Sometimes the Auto Body shops will give you a break on the price if you are not using your insurance to repair it. Ask them what the cash price would be.

And you can have the repair done in stages, to keep the costs down. Insurance is a once and done deal.

Body shop for the fender, they might just tell you to get a new fender. Gonna need a new bumper. Paint to match. Might need the headlight panel too if the one is caved in.

$268 for a V6 Mustang tho per month... **** that man. I know the mentality you have because I had it too when I was that age but I woulda got a nice 4 door hatch or sedan and gotten some driving experience and good credit before taking it in the *** like that...

I work at a body shop and fenders for these cars are relatively cheap. Much better to replace the fender rather than trying to straighten it out. Bumpers or rather bumper covers can usually be fixed easily.

That sucks man. I agree with Strange Mud. Being that your insurance is high, maybe you could do the fix in parts. If you can handle not having matching paint for a while, you could buy a fender and swap it out yourself. If the light is too busted up to keep from leaking, maybe you could buy a housing and do that yourself at a different time. When you have the money to get it paint matched, then you could do that and see if they can just fix the bumper cover at the same time. Just kinda thinking out loud. Good luck!

So it was the bus drivers fault. The bus company's insurance should be paying for it then.

Lighten up Francis. If you read through the posts, he's a new driver and is being hit with the inexperienced driver surcharge. Most, if not all, insurances do this now. If your does not or did not, consider yourself lucky.

Tbth he sounds like he did read through it. I also would not have gotten a car that is basically a car payment for insurance. Get a beater sedan for a few years and save that money.

Whatever. We were all young at one time. I'm sure more than one of us paid ridiculous monthly insurance premiums to drive a car at one time or another as well. For both my kids, it didn't matter what kind of car they drove, as each had $1500 beaters for their first cars, the inexperienced driver surcharge was the same regardless of what they drove.

I dunno what insurance that is where you would have the same payment for a $1500 beater vs a sports car for a teenager. It sure as hell isn't any that I've heard of. The surcharge might be the same but the rest will be way higher.

My point is the surcharge raised the premium by a significant amount and the surcharge is the same regardless of the price of the vehicle or what coverage is chosen.

With new parts is obviously gonna be "easier", this is something I'd trust a body shop can do a decent job without new parts but YMMV
