Just acquired this beauty, figured she deserves her own thread...has a few mods I would have done differently, but that gives me something to look forward to

SWEET!

Nice.

Strange thing is...internals are forged (347 stroker kit), coated shorty headers, edelbrock lifters/cam/CARB/waterpump, billet March serpentine front end with classic auto A/C, but stocker rockers, pushrods, heads, etc..massive power waiting to be unleashed.....just dynoed180 rwhp, 245 lb torque LOL...the hidden beast hasn't even woke up yet

Fully documented and photographed build. C code California car that started out pink (rose).

Do you know what the compression ratio is?
Which Edelbrock cam does it have?

Haven't found CR on paperwork yet (3 days and still going through build receipts)...edelbrock cam and lifters are still in the box, so a something else is in there.

Just finished dynamatting the trunk, now entire.car is soundproofed, waiting on trunk mat. Have a mirror to install and tranny kick down cable.but she's ready enough to show tomorrow

Finally tracked engine stats----Probe performance 347 stroker kit (forged pistons, rods, crank, rings, bearings) compression is somewhere between 10:1 and 10:6, based on head CC's, stock heads rebuilt, but not ported, stock cam.

Dyno curve is ridiculous, 182rwhp, 245torque. Massive HP to be unleashed with new heads and cam, nothing but fun and power in her future.

Beautiful car. Nice workmanship.
Get rid of the MSD ignition.

I was curious because the power numbers seemed a little low. I was wondering if possibly the engine had a low CR for future boost, but that is apparently not the case.
You definitely have a lot of untapped power potential there! Let the tuning begin! :thumb:

Looking good, your car definitely is an attention-grabber!

Uj_SPRT 11-21-2016 07:50 PM

Nice ride!!!
Yes it looks like you found a nice unfinished project!

Edelbrock makes 2 cam kits: Performer plus (the small one, more daily perf)
Performer RPM (the big one, more street machine)

@ OxfordWhite: why would you get rid of the msd?

oxfordwhite 11-21-2016 09:02 PM

MightSuddenlyDie.

Much better ignitions out there for that car.

Yup, I have the performer plus and lifters, no rush to install as this thing is already really torquey for around town daily driving.

My MSD system has worked flawless right down to the high torque heat wrapped mini starter, so I'm quite happy with that.

Just finished reupholstering back seat and install on upgraded 3 point billet seatbelts, and didn't have to mess with my molded headliner 👍

Also finally got hood to close right and installed passenger mirror (scary drilling on this beast, lol)

A passenger mirror was a game changer for me. You could park a semi in the FB's blind spot.

BA68 mustang 12-01-2016 09:44 AM

I have had terrible experiences with eddelbrock cams. I had a performer plus with eddy lifters and correct springs in my car after I rebuilt the motor. I performed the 30min can run in procedure and ran the correct oil and had lash set to 2/3 turn past 0 as per their specs. The cam wiped itself out within 6k miles trashing a fresh rebuild. I contacted eddelbrock and they agreed that it was a crappy cam core from their Chinese plant with poor QC that caused the failure. Even then they refused to compensate me for a replacement cam......... Needless to say I've gone to comp cams since then with zero issues.

Like what? I'm asking because I'm curious, and because it annoys me when people post "that sucks" without a follow up.

oxfordwhite 12-14-2016 07:45 PM

I did not say that sucks. First I like to say that your car is out standing. Just IMHO there are better ignitions out there for that quality of a car. XDI and XDI2 would be one, others might be Crane HEI or perhaps Pertronics. My choice for a car of your quality would be a crank fired system like the XDI2 or similar system. A restomod of your status should get a up to date electronic ignition. I certainly did not mean to cast aspersions on your car or the way it's put together. Just my 2 cents, that's all. Bajo con dijos Amigo.

I might be misreading it, but that sounded like he was more curious than offended. Good info though!

It was OP that was curious, lol, I actually love this MSD setup, great spark, fires instantly even when cold, as far as being "up to date", well it's from 2012, so that's pretty up to date in my book.
On a even sweeter note, gas cap and dash emblem have happened 👍
