Has anyone changed the fluid and filter on their 10R80 automatic transmission? I can't imagine it's too hard to drop the pan and change the filter but the refill process to get the correct level seems complicated. The procedure calls for getting the transmission to operating temperature with the car running to check the fluid level after you refill it. Since the little dipstick you check the level with is under the car on the side of the transmission I don't look forward to getting under a running car with hot exhaust pipes to check it. Any alternative ways to check the level with the transmission cold?

So, how tough are these new 10R80 tranny's? And difference did you notice scurfie? I'm getting close to that 50k mark and think I will have the fluid changed then.
I dropped the pan and changed the filter and the fluid that was in the pan which was a pretty big job as the plug that you need to refill through is in a tough spot to get to. I didn't notice any difference but at 50K you should at least do what I did. At about 80K I'm going to have all the fluid changed with a flush but not replace the filter.
