Hey guys so I have a 2010 Ingot Silver Mustang, it is a V6 and it has the mustang pony package rims. They are 18s and I have pondering the idea of upgrading to 19s or 20s. I am thinking about getting AMR Charcoal wheels (staggered) or RTR rims. Can you guys give me your input? Would the bigger tires/rims improve my fuel economy? Would my acceleration suffer? If you guys have pics post them! Thanks!

I'm going with gloss black AMRs 19s stag.
I want 20s for look but I'm afraid it's going to take more power and away from the handling .
And fuel. But any of them would look great on your car man

I'm liking the 19 staggered as well; do you know how much I could get for my pony package rims? My tires are beat but my rims are still in great shape.

Generally anytime you go to a larger wheel/tire your fuel economy and acceleration will decrease.

actually...going to 20" will decrease rolling resistance...fuel mileage shouldnt move...
BUT for the record.....get a matched set all around...then you can rotate your tires and they will last longer. Staggered started out on the vettes from the factory.....and most tires might get you 20-30K performance types....make sure they are rated above 400 on the utQ...you'll see it on tire rack and the best ratings ;)

I'm going to replace my PP rims in a few months and I'm hoping to get at least $450ish for the rims. (They're in good shape. Minor curb rash, always cleaned well) I have my blizzaks mounted on them right now so a winter tire/rim combo of $850 I think would be reasonable...

How on earth does a 275/20 tire have a lower rolling resistance than a 275/18 tire?

techs have always told me...the bigger the better.....and they take longer to wear out as long as you keep them maintained. Still getting the same story from the chrysler techs I work with (sheepish) I work at a chrysler dealer..but drive a Mustang..LOL

im talking 245/45/20 ish range...the wider...might reduce a lot of something im sure...

More rotational mass I thought that's why but yea a bigger wheel will waste more gas, not alot more but yes it will waste more

Lol ok....

I'm not talking about tires for my Focus. Haven't ran something that narrow on a mustang, ever.

You own a mustang who cares about fuel mileage! Lol I will say its nice that our v6s get good mileage though. I had a 08 Saturn sky before my mustang and I get better mileage and have like double the power.

YEP...BUT I wanted the best of both worlds...hence the 3.7..
im getting avg 25-27 around town, got 31 on the VA and back run in november (first long ride for the car ever) and only drop to 21 when im blowing out carbon or racing some punk that thinks he/she can leave me in this thing. so far...the stock v8's from '00 to 09 cant keep up or catch me....and thats with flowmasters and CAI only...

a stcok camaro v6 / 6spd and I were neck and neck....could get past each other..that was a tie

Lol blowing out carbon. But ya that's one reason I went with the 3.7 best of both worlds.

Curtain...Pirelli P zero all seasons have better rating than the summers im running (came with the perf pkj) but will replace with Kuhmo Ecsta's down the road...they and the General G max have highest rating...

The nitto nt555 are priced pretty good. They are a hell of a lot less expensive than the bfg kdw2 that I'm running right now the rears alone are 345 per tire

I am also very confused on which wheel size I should go with. 18" are inexpensive, cheaper tires, and tuck in the wheel well really nice but requires lowering to finish the look. 20" are very flashy, tires are pretty common, and don't need a lowering kit but are expensive and weigh more. And19" are the best of both worlds accept that the rims and tires tend to be just as expensive as 20s and harder to find. So confused until I'm sure I'm rolling with my stock 17".

Cant say as I blame you....
Was going to upgrade to the 20" Shelby wheels from AM....then found a 19" hurst wheel on Tire rack....., and so on, etc. figure im just gonna re dress my wheels (factory 19" perf pakj painted black) to look a bit different and use them til I wear out the tires...then..well...who knows

You got that spot on! 18's are the way to go imo. Just need a set of springs like you said and they're perfect.
