I'm wanting to buy a set of rims and tire for my 65 Mustang. I would like to have that "muscle" appearance or beefy look. Any suggestions on types and sizes of rims would be appreciated. Also, tire sizes would be helpful. Been to a few tires stores and have gotten different ideas. Would love to hear from you guys here. To be honest I'm leaning toward American Racing Torque Thrust D's 15x7. Thanks for your time and suggestions.

The Torque Thrust are "period correct" wheels as they look like the style available when the car was new. I put a set on a 1964 Galaxie Convertible with the T/A radial tires and it looked great. Check the prices at www.wheelsforless.com

For a 65 this is tough they were built to accept only a 5.5in with 14 or rare 15 in tires. you can get bigger to fit but have to watch clearances a 15X7 with a 4 (11/16)or5/8 in. back space should work with out problem but these have to be special ordered unfortunatly its tough I used to be in a restoration shop I would see if one of the parts dealers has a wheel and tire package like Tony Branda Shelby parts

Torq Thrusts are pretty spendy, Cragars are pretty cool and not too expensive. I always liked 15X8s with 235 60s on the back and 15X7s with 215 60s up front.

I personally run 15X3.5 Welds on 165R15s up front and 15X10 Welds on 275 50 Drag Radials out back on my 67 Mustang.

The tire store can give you the size As to what will fit. but the original GT rims would look cool. but youl have to look for them. *** they are rare.
