I am looking at getting a 73 Mach 1 Mustang. How much could it cost me to get it restored. And would this type of car be a good first car for a girl that is 17?

There is no set price to restoration. Because no 2 cars are identical as far as condition. if you want the car to just look good it will cost less than if you wanted it in show car condition. There are a lot of other factors that effect the price of a restoration such as the labor rate of the shop doing the work.E.X the shop I work at charges $145 per hr prices may be higher or lower in your area. It would be a nice car for a girl but at 17 your insurance rates are going to be outrageous. "fast car big motor inexperienced driver" =$$$$$$$$

First let me say a mustang is a great car for a young lady. That is the demographic Ford was trying to capture with the Mustang. The 73 Mustang was not a good car from the start with the lower power motors used from 72 and on and it's body was to big and bulky causing a lot of body roll in the curves. Because of low sales in this model parts are harder to find and more expensive. Try and find a 67-71 model as there are more of them made and parts are easy to find. When you go to look at any car, carry a small magnet in your pocket and touch it to the different body parts. A magnet will not stick to Bondo.

17? god no. unless you bought that car completely restored at around 60,000+ even then its gas mileage would be horrible, and it would basically be a work of art. and to be ruined by being driven daily by a teenager would be a even worse.

a car that old requres constant attention, and anything could go wrong with it unless it was restored to be completely immaculate.

look into a contemporary car like a honda or an acura. itd be a shame to get a classic car and just end up wrapping it around a tree. not to mention insurance would be outrageous.

look into modern cars, not only would it be alot cheaper, it would also have more of the features people are used to in a car, such as power steering, fm radio, cd player, a/c, comfortable seats. while a vintage car lacks alot of those things
