Could it just be the seal that is broken? The box leaks out the liquid very fast once i fill it. How easy of a job is it to replace the seal? Ive basically rebuilt most of the motor myself but dont want to undertake something over my head. Any suggestions?

yes if the steering box is leaking, it likely needs some internal work too, I would buy a rebuilt one, it will last the lifetime of the vehicle and you will have no problems with it after that.

more than likely it is from the seal, common on ford products of that era, generally the worm shaft is worn out, causing play, allowing wobble and the result is a leak,1973 fixing it up? try to locate a remanufacterd unit,it may cost a little but you will be happier in the end also it takes a pitman arm puller to remove the pitman arm, sometimes a chore.
