hi everyone! i bought a 79 pace car here in dominican republic... the car is in good shape but there is nothing mustangy about it... its like driving a diesel car! i hear the turbo while im driving but i dont think im going more than 30-40mph (broken speedom) do you think it will affect future value if i do an engine swap for a V8? maybe out of an old F150 because ordering one from the U.S. will be expensive...
thanks!

It sounds like you have a plugged up exhaust system. Those cars had a catalytic converter mounted before the turbo and another one just in front of the muffler. It's likely that the ceramic honeycomb in one of them has come apart and plugged either the turbo inlet or the muffler.

I have a 5.0, 4 speed pace car, they don't really have a very good resale value even though there were not very many of them made. The turbo 4 is fun to drive, but it was somewhat unreliable. I don't think a v8 would hurt the value of the car much. You could always save the old parts so it could be changed back.

do you like the hood scoupe (im thinking its the 79 cobra and 82 5.0 ho hood scoupe)btw that car should scoot, what gear ratio? run atleast 3.55 to1 and yep the other post is probably correct id guess your exhaust is junk or you have major timing and or popoff valve issues.
