Well i love both these cars. I love sports cars and muscle cars. I'm 19 years old and looking to buy my second car. My first car kept breaking down and it was given to me so i didn't pay. But i want to purchasing a car for the first time. I'm leaning towards mustangs because they're four seaters but then i'm leaning towards Corvettes because i've seen some with milage under 100k and with a price tag of about 5k. But people want more for older mustangs with more miles but they want less for younger mustangs and less miles. HUH??? lol I'm looking to spend no more than 5k. I would prefer a mustang from the 87-93 era or 1980-90 corvette because I love these cars and insurance on a younger car is more costly. RIGHT? So i just need help on deciding. Keep in mind i know NOTHING about cars but i plan to go to school for auto repair and mechanic classes just so i can learn about cars more in depth.

Yes that is a tough call. The 1987-1993 Mustangs were nice and so were the 1980-1990 Corvettes. I know if I were going for an older sports car I'd probably go for the Corvettes as younger people tend to own Mustangs and beat the crap out of them. Corvettes are generally owned by older people who could afford them and are not abused as bad as a Stang would be. It's your call, do the research and see what you will like for yourself. People on here are going to tell you what they like. You're the one who is going to own and drive it so you decide.

Get the Clo- Vett and put the Mustang engine in it.
At least you would improve it a little in the right spot.

The Mustang will be much cheaper to keep on the road. The pre-LT1 Corvettes of that era weren't particularly fast either, The reliability, particularly the electrics and build quality of the C4 Corvettes weren't these car's strong suits.
