So I finally got to drive it today. Got a few bugs to work out but it runs good. I got to get the boost dialed in, getting some lag but when it spools up blows the intercooler off. But that brief moment before that it's like the hand of God reaches down & gives a push. Also have to get the electric fans to run properly, believe I'm gonna get a relay & a toggle switch to run them. Still being gentle on that new clutch for a few hundred miles. I'll be sure to check in from time to time & keep updating on my progress.

Just becareful boosting before tuned properly.

Check summit racing for fan controllers. I paid 40$ I think for an adjustable fan controller. It comes with the relay, sensor, wiring, and very easy to use instructions. You just thread the sensor in and wire it up. It is adjustable, so you can control when you want the fans to kick on and off via the turn of a screw and a water sensor. I was able to get my water temp dialed in perfectly. :good:

So here's the next problem. My fuel line keep getting pin hole leaks, I believe it might be from the pressure of the new 255 lph 100 psi fuel pump. I have found replacement fuel lines but they are for a 5.0l. The 5.0 lines don't come up at the same place. So here's the question, what would be the best way to replace the fuel lines. I can't find any place that sells replacement 2.3 lines. I'm thinking maybe braided hose but not sure. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would get some steel tubing. And just run the lines yourself. You will need a double flare tool if you don't have one. They are about 20$. If you need help learning how to use it check YouTube. Then you may also need a bender. You can bend the tubing by hand. But the bender does a nice job and is relatively cheap. But this is how I usually replace fuel lines.

I've done some searching on the Web & I think I found what I'm going to do. I found fuel rail & fuel filter AN fittings. Those & some stainless braided hose is the way to go. That way there is no bending or flairing lines. Plus no more worries about rust.

So for a temporary fix I used some compression fittings & steel break line. Worked like a charm. Now some good news. Project mongoose got its first kill today, a wrx sti. Shortly after it lost all power, fell flat on its face. Would idle fine but no go. Turns out it was a bad fuel filter. When I went to replace it not only was it clogged but backwards to boot. Running strong now. Also finally getting a timing cover, & just $5. Oh yeah yesterday battery just went dead. Put a new one in went dead again. Lucky for me I just happened to have a spare alternator laying around, 10 minute road side fix & going again. Eventually nothing else should go wrong because everything will be new.

So another small update. I was getting a small amount of pinging. So I turned the boost down as far as it would go, running between 8-10 lbs. Still getting a little pinging. Checked fuel pressure, right on spec. Checked all vacuum lines & intake gasket areas, no leaks. Finally fixed the coolant lines going to & from the turbo. The lower one broke when I removed the turbo, & following a friend's advice "hey man aftermarket turbos aren't liquid cooled." Yea right dumbass. No more pinging. Also after a TPS adjustment (0.94v with a multimeter) purrs perfect. Now waiting for my adjustable Fuel pressure regulator, slightly higher base fuel pressure, should be able to run a little more boost. Keeps getting better.

Another small update. Got the timing cover on finally & checked the timing. With the spout out the base timing was almost 30 degrees advanced. Surprised it even ran. Got it set at 12 degrees now, it's a whole new machine. Soon as the AFPR gets here should be ready to really go. Liking this thing more & more.

So a new dilemma rears its ugly head. I got in this morning & starter solenoid doesn't work. Jump across starts up. Drive it a minute up the hill to my brothers, shut it off. An hour later get back in, turn the key to the on position & nothing. Turn it to the start position & fuel pump & everything turns on. It will run with the key held in the start position let it come back to the run position & it shuts off. In run all the lights come on but nothing else. I think I have a short somewhere but not sure. Has anyone had this problem before?

I would get a wiring schematic and trace the wires on the ignition and starte silinoid. Check continuity on the wires with voltage with the key on and off and that should tell you what wires are the problems. Also check continuity of each wire to ground. Of course do that with the key off.

Definitely a short, been looking at wiring diagrams. Have no idea where to start. I have no choice but to keep at it
