Ok so my parents are in the process of buying a 2012 Boss 302, and everything about it seems great. It's a 2012 in comp orange with 17500 miles on it. They are getting it for a really good deal aswell for only 27k because a salesman at the dealer lowered the price without the managers permission but I caught it before they realized it. The problem we're having is we have it on an extended test drive atm for a few days and the 3rd gear wasn't grabbing correctly, so my parents took it to a private mechanic to get it looked at, he says it needs a 3rd gear synchro. The dealership is willing to pay for it but is this a red flag this early in it's life that it could have other problems later, or is this a common thing? It has service records so it looks like it's been taken care of. But I'm worried it might have been abused if it's having problems since there is 3 previous owners aswell. I really don't know much about mustangs, admittably I am a camaro owner but I just don't want my parents to be stuck having to fix bigger issues later, and wanted some opinions of more knowledgeable owners.

The manual transmissions in Mustangs are known for synchro problems....let the dealer fix the 3rd gear, buy an extended warranty for a couple of years, and you are good to go.

Update: keeping the car the dealer is putting in a whole new transmission no cost to us so that was a pleasant surprising. Bonus pic of the car next to mine. 20180505_083122.jpeg
