Hey everyone! Looking at taking the plunge on a GT500 and had a question about daily driving.

I live in Houston and have a 30 mile 45 min drive each way. How is the gearing and shiftability setup for rush hour style traffic? I know in 6th at 80mph the engine is at about 1700 rpm so that is good.

Dealers won't let you test drive so I can't get a first hand account. I have read all the posts in this section and didn't see anyone tackle this question before. Apologies if it was and I missed it.

Well I own a 13 GT500 and I really am not sure if I would want to drive it every day in heavy traffic. 1st 2nd and 3rd are setup for getting up to speed very quickly. I can merge in 1st just shifting to 2nd most of the time 4th 5th and 6th are for cruising along from 45 on up. If you are normally moving at a slower speed you will be in one of the lower gears and depending on the speed you may be doing 1200 or so RPM so gas wise might not be that bad. But stopping and starting a lot following someone with someone on my tail I am pretty sure I would just buy a beater and use it instead. Hope this helps
