How much power are you trying to make? Keep in mind your fuel system, and other supporting mods that you will need with more power. Also depending on what you want to do with the car, strip car, daily driver, weekend cruiser, your stock transmission may not hold up long. DSS racing sells a 331 long block for about 5 or 6k. A good turbo kit will run you between 2 and 5k. Theres 10 thousand and we havent even gotten into supporting mods or the trans

Try Fordstrokers.com They sell good stuff and even have a payment plan
so you can pay some $$$ every once in awhile until it's paid for then tey
ship it to you..

Also if you are going to use a Dart or Boss block you might as well go all the
way out to a 363ci..

Best bet for a daily driver in my opinion is a Strim with 10psi on a stock block
5.0 with some good pistons and ARP hardware. That is what I ran in my 90lx
and it made 440whp with no computer tuning, just timing and an FMU. 12.5:1
AFR all day long. I drove that car like it was stolen and it held together for a couple
years until I let a friend driver it and he over reved it. The T5 even held up
until I put some Mickey Thompson DR's on it and hooked, it got ate...

+2 When I had my 347Boss put together and a bunch of other
stuff done to my 90lx, I spent probably 2/3 as much on labor
as parts....

If assembly is going to be an issue maybe look into a 331 short block, rotating assembly already put together, and just buy heads, cam, and intake when funds allow and slap them on yourself. You may be able to save a little bit of money that way. As far as the turbo install goes, the kits are pretty straight forward as far as the installation. Just follow the directions that comes with the kit you buy and youl be fine

this one ford engine build up book from hp books has one they built for under i believe 4 grand minus labor but they built it themselves and it put out close to 434horses and 437ftpnds of torque i think it might have been cheaper but im not 100% sure. they used a block with 140,xxx miles and it held up good. alot of the parts they used they waited till they found good deals on and the stroker kit itself was under 1000$
