Well I'm here!!! Anyways, a few questions need to be answered first.

- What year is your stang?
- If your stang is a 94-98, do you plan on keeping it single port?
- What mods do you have done?

Anyways, to answer some of your questions, a stock 4.2L V6 is a 97-98 F-150 is 200hp. In 99 they did a slight mod to them and 99+ have 202hp. Now if you do a straight swap into your mustang, you can use the same heads, but the intakes need to be from a 99+ V6 mustang, or if you decide to use single port heads, you need to change those over. In my opinion, I would just stay with what ever style heads you have. It's less hassle, and less money. If money is not an issue, then go with the split port heads, and one final tip. Do all the work you want to the block while it's out of the car. Mainly meaning headers. Doing headers while the engine is still in the car completely sucks. But take your time and do it right the first time, instead of going back and saying, "Oh I wish I woulda..." Have a game plan a stick to it as much as possible.

do you plan on swapping over the whole block, or do you plan on swapping just the internals? Either way, you basically just need to swap the intakes over. I'm not 100% sure if it's just the upper or both, but I'm like 99% sure it's just the upper. And then you also need a chip or have your EEC re-flashed.

I think it's a "have-to" mod for those seriously modding there 6. But it all depends how much you want to get into your engine. I picked up about 20ft/lbs of tq across the board and only 5 hp, but that's all gonna change real soon.

4.2 swaps are cheapest motor swaps around pretty much. (generally talking about performance v8s and 4cyl, and the 4.2 isn't some powerhosue in and out itself)

answer all of 97's Q's and we can help you more. if you have an older car that you plan on keeping for a while, a 4.2 from a 97+ f150 isn't a bad idea. you can get the whole longblock for <1000. then comes in factors such as experience and available tools, equipment, and know-how.

... what the hell is "powa"

:wtf2:
LOL, i was in a hurry. I hope u can excuse that internet slang.

Im curently shoping for a project car, and i think a mustang v-6 would be nice. Ill probably end up geting an older sn95 car. it seem the split port makes more power so ill probably go with that.
it seems that the v-6 stangs im lookin at are a reall bargan these days. only like 2-3 k for a low miles example. :) the only thing that i want for it, taht says it wont fit is this key pad entry mod i saw in MM & FF. said it was for 99+ stangs, whats the computer difference there? whats the difference there that may be the culprit?? lack of power things?? it was just a thought.

OK, well if you come up with a game plan like the year of car you're going to use, then let me or us know so we can help ya out. The split port makes more power due to the design and extra airflow, but a single port style can do just as well with some help. Either way I highly suggest getting some big valved heads, at least a 220/220 cam, and some stake 3 intakes as a minimum for your 4.2 With a good tune you can easily see 200hp at the wheels. And for that I'll refer you to Alberto at American Motorsport.

200 na hp to the wheels sounds kinda nice. I was hopin to get more than that. would the power really jump with a super charger or turbo vs the 3.8 with the same mods??

The power between the 2 isn't much, but a little noticable. But boost is a funny thing, you can just add more boost to make more power.

well im eyeing turbos, i saw a mag. article on a guy with a turbo on his stock 3.8 v-6 (99+ body so its a split port) it made 300+ hp to the wheels. Im just checkin to see if i can see more power from a larger engine.
thats what the guys at stangnet seem to think with there v8's. that they will get 20 hp in the super charged engine if its stroked or bored or both.
Any way, thanks for the help!! I really appreciate it. much friendlyer site than stangnet.

just found pro turbo kits 3.8 turbo, 3k for 275-320 whp. sounds nice for that hp range.
4.6l guys spend 5-6k for that kind of power.

That's cool, if you need more help, ask. the only stupid question is the one not asked, unless the answer is in front of you of course.
