Hello new mustang friends

I'm JD I been building and racing fox bodies for about 16 years but it's time for me to build a new race car and I got a great deal on two newer mustangs 275.00 for both cars

I just bought two mustangs 2002 GT and a 99 LX

I also have a 1985 GT with a new 351 and 5 speed that I want to install in the 2002GT this will be a track only car .

I already have the 351 five-speed so I muzzle put it in there I believe I need to change the K member and I read things about I would have to use the control arms off the 2000 2K member to get the fox body k member to line up correctly . For the proper wheel alignment.

I was reading with somebody done this before on this web form

I'm going carbureted. Because the motor and tranny's already set up that way and it's just for tracking street racing the car will be trailered everywhere.

It's a no title car anyway

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated please no responses with telling me to run a different engine this is the motor and tranny I got this is the car I got I'm just looking for friendly advice from anyone has done this before

Save the BS for the Chevy guys. LOL

I know it will fit, but in all honesty, I don't think I've seen anybody in here do a 302/351 swap on here. There may be a few guys on here who know what you need but I'm not 100% certain

Just do an LS swap.
(Sorry, I couldn't resist)

This should be a relatively easy swap. You need a k-member from a 95 Mustang GT. I'm not sure about the A arms, but if you need to swap them, you can use the ones from your old K-member.

Because a lot of people keep telling me fox body but I'm thinking 9495 because it be closer to that body and just used to stock 2002 control arms

How do you LS swap work out for you it was a bad A$$ motors I put one in my 69 Camaro with the six speed oh my God Love it love it love it

All honesty the ls swap be about as hard as the 351 swap... U just get a 4.6 k member ( which u already have on the 2002 if it was a gt) but ya i would think the 94-95 k member would be the one u want because they came with the 302 so it would be a bolt and go thing and prolly the trans mount as well from the same yr, as far as carbd ull need to make it a return style cuz the 02 gt was returnless (96-98 was return style with a fpr so just something to think about) the 351 with some good heads and the proper setup make good power, had one in my fox body and it was wayyyy faster then any other fbody i been in at that time, never dynod it but it ran a 11.02 in the quarter thru the t5 ( which was stock btw .. I dunno how it didnt explode launchin the car at 5500 and pullin the ft wheels off the ground)... But props to u ima be watchin the thread, oh and pictures are nice ?

Get a 94/95 V8 as a donor car to make the swap plug and play. Since they came stock with 302s.

The 94/95 K-member will bolt right up. And since you are planning on using a carburetor, it will greatly simplify the swap.

I have never done an LS swap, but those engines have a lot of potential, and some of the fastest New Edge Mustangs are Chevy powered.

Oh he's going carbd? 94/95 K, fuel system and then just set the car up like you would for a carb conversion on a modular. There are write ups out there on how to do that.

Although I have never swapped a Windsor into a newer Mustang I absolutely love the 351's and have built a number of them as track only motors....last one was 408 w/650hp with 545lbft of torque........in a 70 Maverick it was a 9.80 car in the 1/4.

I've been using the same block for two seasons. It's currently 30 over and I was always happy with it I'm far from the 9's . But 11:20s is good enough for me for now. Hoping to break into the high tens with the new body.

I'm 99% sure or I have to do is change the K member To a 79-95 type in the motor will go right in .

I have to put the GT on the frame straight , then re-clipped the front before I can even find out.

I raced for almost 5 seasons of hard 1/4 racing on the engine pictured....here is what it looked like when I tore it down.
One important thing with 351w's, the early blocks are by fare the best with the most meat around the mains and late 71's to early 74's were about 10lbs heavier than later blocks because they had more meat in the main web....in fact there were originally cast for 4 bolt mains. I've had a couple of blocks where I've added 4 bolt mains over main girdles....the girdles can distort the mains more than you would think....0.0001 to 0.0003 of an inch...when you are trying to wring every horse out of a single 4brl carb'd motor and make it live....it's all in the details.
