Is there anything different from this engine than a 91?
I might be scoring a motor from a friend in exchange for a coffee so, barring the e6 heads and ****ty intake, is the short block suitable to go 331 and boosted?

Yes the short block should be the same. But in both models the short blocks only good for about 450-500hp. You can get a little bit more with a support system. The only other thing different is the sensors and junk because it was speed density.

+1, it has flat top pistons as well which limits cam, heads ect.

Well I would be changing out the rotating assembly and I was only looking for right around 475 at the wheels so I knew about the block limitations. I would do the main cap girdle and I cant remember what the other thing was. Also, you can bolt gt40's on there right? ( both the tubular intake and the heads )

The valley girdle is what you want.

The gt40 setup should bolt up. But you will have a tough time reaching your hp goal. I would look into a good set of aluminum heads.

How do you figure I'll have a tough time? I said earlier it'll be boosted... With a new rotating assembly to match, and the gt40s have been done up with 2.02 intake valves and 1.60 exhaust plus a 6 angle port job

He probably just missed that.
You can meet your goal with those heads and forced induction, but they are pretty restrictive when compared to almost any aluminum head. You could easily pick up a 100 or more HP with the right ones. :good:

Yeah I did miss that, but still more work than what its worth imo compared to getting a better set to start with.

Well I agree the alum heads would be nice, who doesn't like a good set of afr's??? But it's a pretty big budget build. I'm getting a lot of the stuff for next to nothing. I.e. a motor for a Starbucks coffee. The turbo set up a trade for me helping this guy move etc.

Right on. You should be able to stuff some good boost through the 2.02 valves. :good: Keep us posted.

I am pretty sure the pan is the same. Hopefully someone can confirm. I think only 351s were different?

Well the 351 in now has a different oil pan than the stock motor. I just didn't know with the 86 being a different body style and all.
