+1, it has flat top pistons as well which limits cam, heads ect.dreamstang said:Yes the short block should be the same. But in both models the short blocks only good for about 450-500hp. You can get a little bit more with a support system. The only other thing different is the sensors and junk because it was speed density.
The valley girdle is what you want.wc3john said:Well I would be changing out the rotating assembly and I was only looking for right around 475 at the wheels so I knew about the block limitations. I would do the main cap girdle and I cant remember what the other thing was. Also, you can bolt gt40's on there right? ( both the tubular intake and the heads )
He probably just missed that. How do you figure I'll have a tough time? I said earlier it'll be boosted... With a new rotating assembly to match, and the gt40s have been done up with 2.02 intake valves and 1.60 exhaust plus a 6 angle port job
Yeah I did miss that, but still more work than what its worth imo compared to getting a better set to start with.wc3john said:How do you figure I'll have a tough time? Right on. You should be able to stuff some good boost through the 2.02 valves. :good: Keep us posted.wc3john said:Well I agree the alum heads would be nice, who doesn't like a good set of afr's??? But it's a pretty big budget build. I'm getting a lot of the stuff for next to nothing. I.e. a motor for a Starbucks coffee. The turbo set up a trade for me helping this guy move etc.
I am pretty sure the pan is the same. Hopefully someone can confirm. I think only 351s were different?wc3john said:Well I agree the alum heads would be nice, who doesn't like a good set of afr's??? It still has the same oil pan right?
Same oil pan, same basic body style through 93.Well the 351 in now has a different oil pan than the stock motor. I just didn't know with the 86 being a different body style and all.
i thought so. i just wasnt 100% confident to give him info that i wasnt positive on. :good:Trojan Horse said:Same oil pan, same basic body style through 93.
Yep, I do it all the time. :good:And I thought it was, but there's no harm saying I don't know and asking others to make sure lol
