More specific... How much is a few extra ponies to you, what's your budget/goal? Street fun, drag strip, autocross? A little more direction and many can chime in with actual things to help you get there.
If you have the coin AFR165 Heads or Stage1 Ported Trickflow Twisted Wedge Heads from FOXLAKERACING are the single most effective performance power modification you can get for your heavy SN95. I recommend the AFR's for dual profile cam setups and the FoxLake TFS/TW heads for single profile cams. For example the stock cam has a .444 intake lift and .444 exhuast lift, this is a single profile. If you decide you want a aftermarket cam with a dual profile, where the cam intake/exhuast numbers are different, the afr 165's are the way to go. Also some aftermarket cams are single profile as well. Add a set of 3.73 or 4.10 gears. The 3.73 gears are best for manual street duty cars and 4.10 gears are best for automatic street duty cars. Between the heads and gears you will notice about a 1.5 to a full 2 second drop off your 1/4 mile times at a 1/4 mile track, which means aside from adding a power adder like a supercharger or nitrous these 2 mods are the single most benificial mods your car will receive. You could chase 260hp by buying multiple mods but you will probably end up spending more money than you would on just the heads I suggested in the first place. You could use a different and cheaper set of heads to acheive your goal but the ones I suggested are the best the aftermarket world has to offer for a stock or modified 302 windsor and will respond better to any future mods as well as give you considerable more power than their competitors all by themselves, with heads you get what you pay for! Note: Adding gears wouldnt be required but doing heads/gears together is the single best performance gain your car will ever see. Note if you get AFR heads make sure they are the emissions leagle version if you entend to pass a smog test.
If your looking for cheap HP you can remove the intake silencer blah blah. No but seriously, leave the intake silencer alone and stop hacking off your exhuast cats with a saw. Go get a good set of heads... lol. Edelbrock Performer heads are a good way to go if your looking for somthing cheaper and arnt looking to win any trophies, they can even be purchased at autozone.
Also as far as tricks go for a few extra ponies. The 5.0 could be run a quart low on oil at the track only to be safe. I used to always keep my old 87 5.0 LX a quart low even during daily driving to free up some windage and horsepower. However, even though that cars engine went to 315,000 miles and was still going without being rebuilt, if you care about your car even a little bit and it isnt just a beater to you I wouldnt try this at all. Could remove the intake silencer. Another cheep trick is a smog pump pulley delete kit if you dont have emissions to worry about where your from. Aftermarket under drive pulleys with an electric fan make solid power gains. The more you do past that and your starting to spend more and more money and if you started with 200rwhp your going to have to do alot more to reach a simple 260rwhp goal. Again.. go get the heads.
