Just sold my Beautiful Customized 04 6er just to buy a 94 GT 5.0 to build for basic street racing. Now...Where to start??? I'm not sure if I have the right idea so Please Send any Good Advice you have, Things I should watch out for,
& other parts I might need.
My plan is to put GT40 Intake & Heads w/ 1.7 Roller Rockers. What all really needs to be replaced on the Heads??? Springs, Rods, Valves, Sleeves, etc...?
I really don't know & the more I have to do the longer it will take to get the job done; However I want it done right the first time.
On the intake, I read somewhere that I need to make sure I get the intake with the hole in the center for the ACT Sensor. Is that True??? If it is...how do I know which vehicle (explorer, Mountaineer,etc) to get the right intake from. I was also thinking of using a 1" Phelonic Intake Spacer & a Helix T-Body Spacer.
Our local Junkyards sell the intakes for $29. Obviously, I'll pull every GT40 Intake I find just to re-sale them for a profit to help me with my build. Any info on Gt40 Heads & Intake is much appreciated.
Will I need Taller Valve Covers w/ 1.7 Roller Rockers or will the stock ones work??? I was also told the Stock Strut Tower Brace wont fit with the GT40 intake. Is that true??? Do they sell aftermarket ones for this???
Someone give me advice on Fuel injectors & what I need to do Fuel Related.
I know NOTHING when it comes to this.

You can reuse your pushrods as long as they're still straight and undamaged. If you're planning on a cam upgrade you might want to go ahead and put better springs in too. :good:

Going to stick with the 5.0 HO Cam as I'm told it makes more overall power than the GT40 Cam. I want my car to BEAT the new 5.0's & I'll be Happy!!! I may Supercharge it later.

Wow...Great Articles!!! Got lost in the 400HP 5.0 article...lol. Anyways, from what I gather ONLY the 96 & early 97 GT40 Intakes have the ACT Sensor Hole that I need. I really didn't see any big differences as far as H.P. in the different intakes so I guess that wont make a difference for me. Am I correct on the Act Sensor Hole only on 96 & Early 97??? I definitely want 3-Bar Heads as I'm told the Springs in the GT40P Heads are too weak for the Stock HO Cam. Besides the Header & Plugs issue turns me off.
After reading the 400HP article I'm tempted to try that ...but probably more than I need for street use. What's your thoughts???

Got another Q??? All the ads on Ebay or Craigslist list the GT40 Intakes for 87-93.
They never say they fit the 94-95 5.0. Any idea why??? Someone said it's because the Strut Tower Brace wont work with GT40 Intake. Is that true & if so do they sell an aftermarket one that will work?

The hole is for the egr, you would still have to tap the lower intake or move the act sensor. The stock springs will definitely hold up to the stock HO cam, but if the heads have a lot of miles on them then I would change them for peace of mind. No difference in the springs between gt40 and gt40p heads.

400 hp would be nice and more than you would expect out of a n/a fox. You won't get there with the gt40 heads but you will definitely notice the gains with them and a few other mods.

Tap a Hole for Act Sensor???

Is that the hole ppl are talking about tapping by the #5 port???
Hopefully an auto machine shop will know exactly what I want to do.
I'm going to see tomorrow as there's one down the street from me.
Every time I think I got it figured out ... another twist in the game.
I thought the hole in the center of the lower intake was for the act sensor.
Not even sure what an ACT Sensor is or what it does.
Check my Chiltons on that...lol. Gotta see where it's located now.
Sure hope I get all this straight so I don't have a bunch of problems when I start the Swap. I plan to have everything ready by Jan. including New timing Chain, Injectors, Fuel Pump, Exhaust, etc. Any Mustang Gearheads in the Phx. area??? Sure would be nice to be able to talk to someone local should I run into trouble when I start the swap.

Keep in mind about the 400hp article. What they did is nothing short of totally fn Awsome. But that maynot always duplicated. They set it up perfectly in perfect conditions etc. But hey nothing wrong with giving it a shot.

Chiltons doesn't show it. Shows an intake Temp Sensor & an IAT Sensor.

Doesn't sound too terribly expensive either.
