Are late 90's early 2000's Ford Mustang V6 engines prone to blown head gaskets?

The single port 3.8L's in general were known for head gasket problems, Windstars, T-Birds, Taurus, and Mustangs were all affected. For the Mustang the 94-98 V6 models head gasket failure is a pretty common issue. The split port 3.8L, was much more reliable in that respect. 1999-2004 Mustangs had that the split port 3.8L and generally don't have nearly as many blown head gaskets as the earlier cars do.

go look on carcomplaints.com and see what it says in the ford section under mustangs, All engines are prone to blowing head gaskets if there is a coolant loss the owner does not catch right away. The mustang engine is no different than any other engine as far as I ever heard. Any time you take two different thicknesses of metal with a different mass and wieght and charachtaristics and heat them up and cool them of 10 times a day for years and years and years the weak link will always be the gasket in between. It has a heck of a job and considering how much it really does its a wonder they do not blow more often than they do.
