You would know if you got sideways... When your turn hard and hear squealing that means your pushing your tires to their potential. Any more and you probably would have gotten sideways.

I know where you are coming from OP, when I got my Mustang I just turned 18 3 days prior and after I got it I quickly started into the modding scheme and was power hungry. I was flooring it everywhere I went and did crazy stuff through corners. A few spin outs later I realized that if I didn't control myself I could kill myself easily...

Now I drive easy most of the time. Usually driving at or just under the speed limit also. No point in wasting the gas and being that hard on the car. It went from me having to control myself to not speed to it coming naturally now.

Now I'm not saying it don't get on it. There is a reason I bought a Mustang, but there is a time and place for everything....

Oh, and it hasn't even been that long, I turned 18 in February, so I've had the car for 7 months.

Oh, and on a side note.... Your car has 250 more horsepower than mine, I'm sure it's a lot easier to kill yourself in yours than mine... I would recommend learning that sooner rather than later...

Not criticizing you, just explaining my experience and hoping you learn from it.

It is good advice. If my parents will allow it, I will. But I'd have a better chance convincing them to let me track, or drag strip race
My parents like it when I go to the track, because then they know I'm keeping it off the street. My dad even went with me the first time I went to the drag strip and rode along with me. ---------- Post added at 05:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 PM ----------
just remember you have a car few your age would be allowed to drive. so be careful and always remember at your age a screw up well be felt for years since your insurance drop isn't till 25.
+1 the fastest car I've driven is out corvette. And that only has an LS1 (350hp; 390tq)... And I never even opened it up at all. ---------- Post added at 05:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:28 PM ----------
What is autocross?
As Static stated, it's racing around cones in a big open area, no possible way to hurt yourself or wreck. After only 3 runs at autocross I learned more about how my car handles than most people will in their life. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life so far.
