So my baffles are broken in my FM mufflers according to my mechanic, he wants to charge me 300 which I feel I could save some money, wondering if you guys can answer a few questions for me. For the time being can I just remove my mufflers? If so how do I go about doing that? Can I purchase new mufflers that just bolt on because I have no welding skills at all. Thanks guys

Just checked my mufflers and they are welded on, don't even know how I'd go about removing or replacing them myself

You can get yourself a sawzall and cut the pipe right before the weld, you are gonna need a couple of pipe couplers, if the size of your pipe is 2-1/2" your gonna want to get a 2-1/2" I.D. coupler , you will have to have the new mufflers because you will have to cut your exhaust pipe to size to fit the coupler in, after everything is in place you can clamp it all together using muffler clamps , you can get the clamps and couplers at any auto part store

That's alot. My local shop offered 60 bucks to remove my mufflers. He also swapped my midpipe for 60

Just an idea but I thought that flowmasters had a lifetime warranty. Might be worth checking into their web site for more info.

Yes those are the ones he's referring to. The 10s will be much louder than your 40's you have now. Don't forget if you want to keep the same sound you can just buy replacement 40's or step up to the 44's. All flow masters and should all be a direct swap. You'd have to cut and weld but an exhaust shop should be able to take care of that easily for you and pretty cheap. I'm pretty sure your mufflers are offset, so just make sure to get offset mufflers again. By the time you spend $80 on each muffler and like $50-70 for install. You can buy a catback with all new piping, mufflers, and tips for $150-200 more. If your already happy with your tips and mufflers, just replace the mufflers it's cheaper. And you can still change the sound depending on what flow master mufflers you buy.

I'm just assuming you can 40's because that's what most usually have.

good god for $300 that better be a full catback lol...

if you like the sound of your 40's btw you can go to any autoparts store and buy some Thrush Welded Series mufflers for $39 a pop...so you can replace both for the price of one FM...they sound 95% similar and then just have the exhaust shop swap them for your old ones...it's cheap and easy...but i'd call other shops too, because the local shops here charge $25 to cut off an old muffler and weld in a new one

You might want to slide under your car and make shure they are flows there are many fakes out there not saying they are bad mine are slightly louder then my buddy's gt same mid pipe and only 2 cats but once I get on if its louder a good way to tell is the muffler will say flowmasters on it of not you got fakes my dad didn't know this when he bought the car I was told they were flows till I got it on a lift but still satisfied with the sound! Basic 2 chamber exhaust
