Went to go to the store a few minutes ago and a wire to my lights decided it was time to go. Luckily the damage is minimal, but I don't know if it burnt any wires in the harness yet. Hopefully the cause of it was only related to that one. :(

:eek: That's not good. :(
Make sure the wire isn't shorted and over amping.

Sucks man! Glad to hear there was only minimal damage, I know you are.

I know it's the power wire for the parking lamps and instrument lighting that burnt up. Jumped all the connections to make sure it wasn't the switch and found out my parking lights are shorted somewhere.

I think I may have pinched a wire somewhere under the dash, but won't know till tomorrow when I pull it out.

It was only that one wire thank goodness, I'm going to try and run a new one tomorrow while I search for the short.

Thanks, I'm sure going to try. May have to toggle the lights in the back temporarily until I can do it properly. Work schedule sucks this week.

hey i notice your parking lights and blinkers are backwards the middle ones are suppose be blinkers and the sides are the running lights thats how my fox was man and i saw yours was the opposite might wanna see if it matters

:confused: Been thinking about this, Why didn't the fuse blow instead of the wire burning up?

kid_kash_00, The outer lights are supposed to be the turn signals. They put them on the corners for increased visability.

might have had a bigger fuse than suppose to mine burnt the wires when i hooked the fog lights up to much load on old wires maybe my fox was backwards lol

That's another possibility. In older cars that use the 1/4" diameter fuses I have seen people actually put a piece of 1/4" od copper tubing in place of a fuse and I read about the infamous .22 caliber bullet fuse replacement which supposedly went off and shot the driver in the leg. :eek:

If your car is using the inner lights for the turn signals, I am surprised it passed inspection. In an accident that could work against you. I'd see about changing that were I you. :good:

I've had 4 Fords, 2 95 GT's, 2 T-birds that all used the same headlight switch and all four failed and had different symptoms. Hell my 91 V6 T-bird the dimmer switch would actually dim out the rear taillights. This or something related could be the issue with the funny turn signals, and possibly something to do with slowstang's issue as well.

The one that blew was too small so I didn't think too much about it. Put the proper size in and it started smoking and burnt the wire up. I've seen a lot of similar threads looking for the diagram so I'm guessing its not too rare for that one to burn up.

Oh and my turn signals do still work and are on the outside. They've never come on with the parking lights since I've had the car so it's no bother to me now that the wire is cut.

So the wire you burned up is to the headlights?
What about the fog lights or do you have them?
I remember that the switch and maybe the wiring too, was insufficient to power both from the factory.

No it was to the parking lights, the headlights are fine. I already rewired the fog lights and put them on their own fuse. I used the headlight power wire to jump out the others to check for the shorted wire.
