over the last couple of weeks my car has been giving me problems starting. to be more specific, It would not start. I kept on thinking I had to go by a new battery. well today my car is dead. So I am going to get a new battery. My questions are: What brand battery u guys recomend, and should I get something else. I know I probably need to change the spark plugs. They've been there for 66000 miles. How do I know all I need is a new battery and not have any other problems (ie:starter)? the only way my car will start is if if someone gives me a jump start, and then when I turn it off, it won't start again.
please help!!
Thanks

Once you get is started can you unhook the battery and the car continue to run? If so, it's the battery, if not..it's the alternator. From what you are describing it's probably a little bit of both. But mostly the battery if it won't hold a charge

It's your battery then. Put a new battery in the thing and see how it does. If nothing else, pull a battery out of someone else's car and then start your car with that. If you have an amp meter you can check and make sure your amp is able to charge a battery, I'm not exactly sure what the charge should be..but I'm sure someone on here knows. I'd go get a reading from mine..but it's pouring down rain here

I would go to Auto Zone and have it checked like Brent said then Go to Walmart and get a Everstart Battery model # 58-3N (the model for Mustangs) for $40,00. They are really good batteries and with a great warranty (2 years free replacement no prorate)and good cranking amps for extreme cold or hot weather.

OK, so I got the new battery, put it in and the car won't start. I'm like WTF!, so guess what ; u know that loop thing that conects the wire to the battery? it is broken . I did not see it when I put the battery in 'caus it is so damm dark outside. Anyway. I'm guessing that is what is causing no power to go through. will have to go in the morning to get one of those loopythingys (whatever they are called) ,Any tips on how to change that.can't be too complicated.

is there just some kind of screw holding a bunch of wires to it? It can't be that easy... I'll just start out by saying, I have no idea.... and I'm going to leave it to someone that knows a lot more than me :)

And another question: should i keep the new battery?
Change it out first and see if you car starts fine with the old battery. I'm pretty sure your old battery is fine.

Since you already went through the trouble of buying a new battery, i would keep it... but that is up to you. Secondly, You should just be able to take the clamp off and put the new one back on there. :D

I think you have to buy the whole cable.... autozone would sell it or any autoparts store. Just tll them what happened and they will tell you what you need

youll have to cut the old clamp off the wire. strip back the insulation, and install the new clamp.depends on the kind you get, you can get some you have to solder on, some that crimp on, and then some that just bolt on.you can get them at wal mart for like $2
