Car has almost 84k and the tob is about to go. I am thinking of installing a new clutch myself to save $$. Is there anything I should know beforehand or should lookout for.? I have a climate controlled shop I can use with an amazing array of tools and have someone that will be helping me. I will be using an Exedy mach 400 stage 2 clutch w/ Ford racing tob and pilot bearing. Any suggestions or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

nothin to painful really just the one starter bolt that comes in from the front of the engine is a pain to get to just use a long enough extension and a swival and comes right out. i left that out when i did mine two bolts are fine. and the top two trans bolts on top of the bell housing can be challenging. but other than that its pretty much straight forward. are you having the flywheel checked? i would but i wouldnt take it to carquest tho. i didnt have mine checked the first time and wind up having to pull the tranny again a few days later cuz it destroyed the tob. good luck

just read a few hot to's on the actual car you are working on (cobra vs a v6 for example) and you can figure out any odd things that are specific to those cars and avoid them. Other than that take your time, buy good parts (dont use the throwout that come with the clutch kit over a ford version for example).

also you may want to replace the pilot bearing etc

Someone with a gt done a superb write up. My clutch is great just my tob squeaking at first start up. I'm thinking flywheel should be good. I am using Ford racing tob and pilot bearing. What should I look for on flywheel? Grooves and uneven wear?
