so my 96 gt lately seems to be harder to shift then usual. it grabs perfectly fine but when I'm at a stop it's kinda hard to get into 1st and when I do sometimes it'll nudge forward a little bit. the clutch has about 5k miles and I'm not very hard on it for the most part. it's also a little bit more notchy then it use to be I've noticed the past few days. my car has a tr3650 trans swap with a pro 5.0 shifter. the clutch is nothing special it's just an oem replacement clutch pretty much. does it sound like it needs adjusting? maybe the cable stretched? it has a steeda adjustable cable with aluminum quadrant but no firewall adjuster. I know the adjustable cables suck but what do you guys think it sounds like? lmk thanks

It does sound like an adjustment is needed. From your description the clutch is not completely disengaging.

that's what I'm thinking. now when I'm adjusting it down by where it hooks up to the bellhousing do I move the nut in or out to get it to disengage fully?

You have a good question. I honestly cannot give you the correct answer on that one.

I tried adjusting multiple times and no luck still hard to get info 1st and second
Have you drained the fluid to check for debris. The 3650 is known for problems with shifting, especially when cold.

One problem is too much fluid, but you are having issues dropping into 1st. I am going to say you need a fluid change (I'm starting simple and cheap) if the fluid is clean.

I am not an transmission builder by any means. I know how the work and what each component does. That said; my guess would be a bad input bearing that is not allowing the syncros and gears to line up. You could also have bad syncros.

Does the car go into gear without the engine running? Does it shift into 3rd, 4th, 5th, reverse easily?

3rd 4th and 5th pretty easy and with the car off its perfect goes in with no issues at all. and no I didn't check the level. 1st 2nd and reverse are hard when the engine is running. but no grinding or wining. my throwout bearing squeaks a little bit when holding the clutch in

Well, now I am stumped for a suggestion. I would need to get my hands, ears, and eyes on the car.

I'm praying it's in need of a new cable or just an adjustment. I replaced everything 5k miles ago. new clutch disk pressure plate throwout bearing and fork

Have you checked your motor mounts? I know it sounds crazy but if one of them are bad and the motor doesnt stay put then it will affect your shifting. My 98 gt had this problem.
