Clutch problem ! Help !

I have a 98 v6 mustang , 5 speed .

When i bought it the throughout bearing was bad an it was knocking . So i went an bought a new clutch , i put it in , put the tranny back in , and i left it on the jack stands , an went to go an act like i was driving it , an the clutch is still knocking , but not as loud as it was before i replaced the clutch . But now i ran into another problem , the back tires are locked up , i put it in first gear an eased off the clutch an gave it gas an the rpms would go down slowly an the back tires were not spinning , so i tried reverse , did the same thing .
I had read on here that it could be the flywheel ?
Anyone have any ideas on what is going on ?
Any info will help !
Thankyou !

It sounds like you've got a bad transmission.
I was told it could be that , i jus wasnt quite sure .

Didnt want to go buy a tranny an it not fix the problem .
I think throwout bearings squeal not knock. Maybe something broke in tranny.
r u sure the clutch disc is not in backwards on the flywheel,if not then its going to be n ur tranny.
I put the clutch disc in so it was flush against the flywheel .
Is that the wrong way ?
the clutch springs retainer should be on the pressure plate side
That is how i put it in there .
You replaced the throw out bearing also right?
Yeah , bought a clutch disc , pressure plate , pilot bearing an the throw out bearing all together .

Oh okay.. Yeah I guess something broke into the tranny and broke it
Im going to get my tranny looked at soon .

Thanks for the help everyone .
I will keep you posted .

Does anyone know a muffler thatll make a v6 sound like a v8 ? Like the closest sound to a v8 .
You could make sure your rear brakes aren't seized up too, you never know.

Also the closest and easiest way to get that GT sound is to get GT mufflers.
Could be the input shaft, but is the sound kinda like big a55 rocks rolling around? If so you probably have a blow trans.

Dumb question, and I mean no offense with asking this, did you put the driveshaft back in? A buddy actually did that with his camaro..called me out to the shop, I took one look under and started laughing.
The rear wheels aren't locked up no more .

I dont know what was wrong with it , but yesterday it wanted to drive . It was jus knocking in the tranny area tho .
An the knocking kinda sounds like a helicopter .
Where could i get a GT muffler ?

An yes i put the drive shaft back on . Ahah .

right on, be real careful man.. without knowing the cause you may be playing with fire.. don't want something to go or lock up at 60+ on the highway or something

and id go with a set of flowmasters or magnaflow mufflers with an x pipe or divorce duals over a single stock gt can.. you would have to do duals anyhow for the gt mufflers to work right
Yeah i know .

That would suck .

An right now i have true duals stock .
You can get GT or maybe even Cobra mufflers from the junkyard that would be my first place to look. You could go to a Ford dealer but their parts department will probably charge you an arm and a leg for them. I say use those mufflers because it has a good chance of keeping the exhaust sound low rather than a higher rasp with aftermarket mufflers which you aren't looking for.

What year is your stang?

And if you keep the cats on, flowmasters or magnaflows really don't have a rasp or tin can sound. Mines a 95 v6, with a weird x pipe (looks like 2 y pipes end to end tbh) and flowmaster 50s, growls and rumbles and I've taken it to red line and no rasp. Flow 10s with stock cats and divorce duals sound incredible. There's a guy on youtube with that exact setup on his 97(I think) and its awesome, but loud.. depends what you're looking for really, just know it'll never sound exactly like a v8.
Check the clutch fork , there is a ball otherwise known as a pivot bolt at the top of the tranny caddy corner of the shaft if u don't have that clip hooked up the fork will bounce and also won't completely compress the clutch so it won't shift right . Just raise the car , in book the clutch cable and shine a light in there to see you should be able to push it back up if that's the case long as u in hook the cable
