Are the 50-60 dollar eBay kits as good as the $170 and up name brand kits?

^ I agree to an extent. Usually the actual piping is probably very close, but the filter is usually where the big difference is. I can't imagine the ebay kits having as good of a filter as the normal kits.
I would look for a used kit online or on craigslist. I'd much rather spend far less money on a quality used kit than a new questionable one.

I was thinking I could get an eBay kit Nd swap the filter with a k&n. that would be 100 bucks or less total

You'd probably be fine doing that to be honest. I always just bought a name brand one so I knew exactly what I was getting.

Actually everything I've read is the piping on the eBay kits rusts rather quickly. The filters are comparable to some extent although I don't believe for a second that a cheapo eBay filter will stand the test of time and last.. I have no 'proof' but it's logical thinking and stands to reason..
I've always used Mac brand CAI personally and I would suggest using a used name brand kit over an eBay kit any day.
Last year I read an article in a motorcycle mag where they tested several eBay kits, like slip on mufflers, rear sets etc. they found the performance was on par but the quality and fitment suffered greatly.. BUYER BEWARE

I ordered the upr kit. Oiled reusable filter and aluminum piping. I wanna stay kinda cheap because hopefully next year I'm going to either turbo or supercharge it
