Is there any way to compress the rear caliper without using the tool? I have even tried pushing and turning with pliers. The Piston turns but after turning it for almost an hour it has not compressed any. I have been trying to solve this as I have to drive my car to work tomorrow. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

There is not, not without a lot of trouble. You have to turn and push in at the same time.
I tried that little cube thing that fits all brakes. It didn't fit my '09.
Another thing is, instead of struggling with the wrong tool, or without ANY tool, buy the right tool for the job and it will be so much easier.
Do yourself a favor, buy the tool. I bought the cheap, I mean the inexpensive one from Harbor Freight. A nice little kit that actually WILL work on most cars.

Thanks for the reply, I will definitely invest in one. I'm going to rent the proper tool from AutoZone tomorrow so I can get my car back on the road
