I have a gt 40 motor i bought with low miles that was in a wrecked car i have installed motor and runs good but has a very bad vibration. I have eliminated everything it could b and it defently internal. My ? Is i am going to replace crank and main bearings. Can i get away without tearing the whole motor apart or does everything need to come out

if you think its the crank, you are definitly sure you jave the proper imbalanve on the flywheel and damper? sorry but it never hurts to ask.

i dont see any way of doing the without pulling the motor.

Yes im sure. I know i have to pull motor. Can i just replace crank without pulling pistons and all im assuming they should b fine theres only 2200 miles on the motor

I think for the amount of time you'd waste trying to work around everything you'd be better off pulling the motor

Not to pick. But why are you replacing the crank?

Since you'll already have the motor out, if it were me I'd just go ahead and pull it all apart, especially if you're going to be replacing the crank. Chances are you won't be pulling the motor again anytime soon, so why not do a little preventive maintenance?

I bought motor with 2200 miles on it and it has a balance issue have replaced entire drivetrain and still anything over 3000 rpm have realy bad vibrations. When i researched the company that built motor they are out of bizz. But what i did find was lots of complaints about them selln motors that were not internaly balanced.

+1 on this suggestion then. Better to be safe than sorry later. It shouldn't need any machine work or anything if it is that fresh of a build. But a good eyeball will tell you what you need when it's apart.

So finaly got the motor out. Spun the rear main with only 2200 miles. Cant see any damage other than so should i b ok just replacing crank and all bearinigs. And any ideas y bearing spun with such low miles. Thanks

I would guess it didn't get proper oil? Maybe a passage was clogged or there is a plug in one of the passages I think that may have not been installed? But not sure on these. Just throwing bones.

Were the caps installed back in there original locations? Either that or bad machine job.

. Off to machine shop we go. Finaly got motivated to fix. Should b back on the road in week or two.
