So I have recently come to the conclusion, me wanting to put a 289 or 302 on my car isn't going to happen. Here's my current situation. Aside from the body work, I have a front end to upgrade to 5 lug, exhaust to run and a cracked manifold.

Being completely new to cars, I got this car to learn on, do I need to run exhaust if I get a header? I love the sound of it and I don't want to ruin it.

Maybe I could add a little umph, or a little more sound to what I have. After I upgrade my spindles and put on disc brakes, I would like to dress up or just make it a little more of a reliable summer car. I guess I just don't want to go about all of this the wrong way. Anyone have their 2¢ they can put in? Really would help. Anything! Thank you!

Sounds like you have a 6 cylinder? I started a thread a while back called Six Cylinder Performance Mods. If I knew how I'd link to it. It has performance stuff but I also have a couple pictures.
If you put a header on it, dual or single out, you would have to at least have the exhaust modified to match up.

Post some pictures up and a list of what you have that we can use to help you along your path. These are fun to work on if you take your time and it is not your daily driver. There is a lot you can do to these that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Here ya go guys! I appreciate the help and the thought!
I would start with cleaning up the wiring and the hoses in the engine bay. Maybe some better plug wires and a new point less disturber and coil will keep it running strong with little problems.

If it is running right now and you can wait till fall and pull it off the road to do some dressing up work I would leave it be and see what happens that might need fixing. Summer is the wrong time to start a project unless you have the cash, space and know how to get it done quick.

Depending on your time line and experience with working on cars? Maybe you could pull the engine and tranny get it out of the way while you dress up the firewall and inner fenders. From looking at the pictures I don't see it needing much more then a dressing up.

That makes me feel really great! I'm really excited to start the dressing. It sounds like it won't be too bad. Maybe I can use my budget on my body work. Thanks guys! I appreciate the 2¢
