when i got my exhaust installed they ran seperate pipes (one from each cat) back to the mufflers then out the back. the problem is, is that they didn't install an X-pipe or an H-pipe. I looked and i don't think there's a Y pipe because from the cats back the pipes dont' touch literally giving the meaning to true dual exhaust. However, i want to know wether or not this causes a problem. Am i not getting as much sound/power, do i need an X or H pipe?

thanks.

what you have on your car is called a cat back system, wich is what it sounds, the system is new from the cat back. What the X/H pipe refers to is the pipes from the headers to the cats, in wich case you have a Y pipe. A true dual exhasut would be a pipe coming from each header and never connecting. An H pipe is what you are going to want to look at probably.

Take a look at this article

BTW this needs to be in General Mustang Tech.
