Hey everyone, So I have a buddy with a 4.6 4v 2001 Cobra Stock Motor and Trans
Currently I have a 2000 V6 Automatic , I was wandering two things.
1. Is it worth it/possible to do this switch and what would I need to make it happen
2. Am I better off supercharging the V6?

Any positive advice is appreciated, def checking back to see some responses.
Thanks!

The motor and trans is the most expensive things of the swap, now u need an 8.8 rear end.
Computer and wiring harness K member I believe. Oil pan. Motor mounts
Pretty much need everything. Also get cobra gauges etc.
Supercharged v6 may make 300rwhp
And unless u build the engine u won't ever get past 400 safely
The cobras make 400 crank but in most cases make that on a dyno, they were under rated by ford.
Pretty much what ever is on that car u need to swap
But it's a great engine GL

Thanks for the quick response! Glad to hear because I honestly was leaning towards the engine while my brother was leaning towards the supercharge

You should supercharge. I thought about swaping the 4v swap. But, thats a lot of work. While your just taking a motor out forging the bottom end and do it right youll have a decent amount of hp or that compared to rewireing and streightnening your car. Bc the v8 had a stronger chasis, with stabbalizer bars and etc, then wireing the computer. Unless you wanna be out of a car for a good long time id just consider buying a v8 or just putting more steel on that v6. The choice is yours.

Ive got a 4.6 Teskid block out of a 97 mark VIII. Your best bet would be to trade the sixxer for an 8 with high miles or a blown engine and swap the new 4.6 into it. Saves alot of work and can re use almost all the gt parts in the swap.

Now, what i wanna do is forge my bottom end, cam head and intake. Bore to 4.3, then turbo.
I don't think u wanna bore to a 4.3. Walls would be to thin.
You want to stroke it to a 4.3

Thanks for all the feedback it is a tough choice to either decide supercharge but if I do go engine after reading here it seems like the donor gt would be the way to go for that

He wouldn't be out of the car for that long honestly as long as he knows what he's doing. I've swapped entire harnesses within a few hours of work... the motor/trans pull/install be the more time consuming part but to unhook/label everything... wouldn't take that long. the actual removal would be the pita

i'd say supercharge it though :p
