I was under my back end today and saw that my driver side over axle pipe has been hitting my axle. It seems to be hitting this small knob on top of the axle that's only on the driver side. I'll be honest that I am not sure what this is for or if there is a solution to fix this.

I am posting pictures of both the damage to the pipe and the protrusion that has been hitting it.

Well my exhaust doesn't move much and there isn't anyway to keep the axle from moving so I might be boned.

That's the breather and it's also a source of leaks on these (they have a revised version you should look into getting)

Your exhaust on the other hand, well it shouldn't hit. What have you don't to the exhaust and suspension?

I am on eibach sport lines and have a 3" mbrp cat back so it makes sense that the axle is closer to the exhaust.

I looked at the axle again while it was on the ground and it looks like there is plenty of room. It is possible it has only been hitting on really hard bumps.

So here is my advice. I would look at the OTA pipe orientation. You can loosen the connections and twist it a bit and possibly put it in a spot it won't be in the path of that breather. But be careful as you really need to make sure that the pipe clears all the hoses under there ect.

I'd also look at the bump stops. I know the sportlines come with smaller bump stops. Are they installed?

Yes they are installed and I can tell that they have hit a few times on the metal right above them. I will probably measure the gap between the bumpstops and the car and then axle and the exhaust to see which is smaller.

Like said, loosen the bolts. Then jack the exhaust up a little higher and tighten it. I had a similar issue on my car when I put axlebacks on. It needed a couple fangles of the pipe position and muffler location to get it to stop tapping the DS of the panhard mount.

I will try to get to doing that tonight. It does not look like it needs much more room so hopefully it isn't too difficult to adjust.

It's not. You have all the muffler hangers in place, right? That is really the only proper location the exhaust has. They can't be damaged or removed.

It's the combination of lowering springs and 3" pipe, plus the tight fit due to the gas filler neck coming down and the location of the axle breather. The axle breather vent is hitting when you hit a decent bump. Had the same issue with mine ('12 GT, eibach sports, Borla 3"). My axle breather was leaking anyway so I ran my own catch can in the trunk but what really made it was the 90 degree elbow I threaded into the axle. I screwed the fitting in so the nipple was just above the axle then ran tubing from it up into the trunk. I had tried alternate positions with the ota pipe but it didn't eliminate the issue. I've seen 3" catbacks for sale because of clearance issues and can only imagine this is why..
