from what i have gathered, the 1.8 rr's are for people that just want some bolt on power but is not ideal for power with a new cam. doesn't the 1.8's just bandaid a stock motor to make it feel like a bigger cam? someone help me understand this please.

kinda-sorta...

I use the 1.8's on cam lobes that have less lift than I like.
For heads that flow well higher up, use them. They add
about .020" more lift than 1.73's and about 1-2* more
duration at the valve, but the valve seats and peaks at the
same times as with 1.73 rockers. If your springs can handle
it, 1.8's are good with any cam.

I really think the 1:8 roller rockers added to my problems with my 94 V6, if I had used them with a stock cam, or use the cam with 1:73s, I think I would have had less troubles. It was a real PIA to shim them right too.

BULL BULL BULL A nice performance cam is way better peformance gain than just adding lift. it is just krazy to think otherwise. Hell if you are a do it yourself kind of guy a cam is cheaper than 1.8 rockers period !!!
