Went out today with nice cold temps (in the 30's but no snow!) so with a cold track I had to heat up the drag radials a lot to get traction. But hit my goal and put the car into the 13's all day.

Still basically stock, just a tune, and lighter Race Star Dark Star direct drill wheels and 275-50x15 Mickey Thompsons on the back.

Switching to the lighter wheels and drag tires helped a lot actually. That change alone brought the 60' and ET down.

Plus, my wife worries if I run on the street tires after a friend put his car into the wall. Couldn't get traction but he stayed in it, car got a little sideways and then the street tires got traction. So having them takes that worry off her as well as getting the car to hook up better. I tried running with the street tires the first weekend I had the car and even with the 2.73 gear it was tough to get rolling without spin.

And when the forced induction goes on the car they will definitely be needed anyway. Since the price was right, and the wife was saying "please get them so I don't worry" it was worth it!

Its true about stability and traction but its too much grip for an auto tranny . But better safe than Sry i guess.. My recommendation is don't push it too hard

It was never "too much grip" for my 2006 with the weaker 5R55S automatic. Put 203,000 miles on that, with the Xcharger Xtreme running mid 12 second passes. The new owner says it is still running just as strong. Only issue I ever had was when I still had the 7.5" rear end and bent the pinion using drag radials.
