Im getting myself a project car, my 1st. Its between a 1983 Z28 Camaro (Red, auto,140k), a 1990 Mustang LX (Maroon, 138K, auto, 2.4L I4) a 1985 Firebird (Blue, 130K auto).
Which could I find more parts for?
Which would sound better?
which would you buy??
If you know of anything else that would be helpful in my choice, thanks!!

The ones that have the most parts on the market are the GM models. That is because they are of poor quality, and they need to be fixed on a regular basis. Also in order to push the performance, stock parts just will not do.
You can tune the exhaust for what ever sound you want in a lot of manners, I will always think that a Dodge Hemi with a 3/4 grind cam sounds best.
Given your choices I would take the Mustang. Because it is the cheapest to build power in. This is not because after market parts cost less, it is because so many of the components in the power train can take the strain for a street-able engine.

A 4-cylinder Mustang? You gotta be kidding! Oh, yeah, there is quite the supply of high performance parts for that P.O.S. Cause it can really "take the strain", those 2.4 liter brutes are really built to take a pounding. LOL! Good luck, Jo...

Well, 4 cylinder Mustangs are a joke and you didn't specify what the Camaro and the Firebird had in them...but, generally speaking the Camaro and the Firebird of that vintage have the same stock engine...Chevy-built 5.0L / 305 cu. in. (unlike the good old days) so go for the newer car. As far as sound goes... avoid Flowmasters they are junk, go with dual Dynomax Ultra-Flo mufflers with an "X" type crossover installed, much better flow rate and sound!

I would get the 83 camaro. My friend bought one and restored it and it sounds amazing. You're not gonna get the camaro sound with a little four-banger Mustang. He really didn't have to do a whole lot of work on it either to make it run great.

Since it's a only a 25 year old chevy, parts shouldn't be that hard to find.

1983 Z28 Camaro
Since it's a z28 I'm guessing it still has the original 350 Engine!

The Mustang would be better if it were a GT - 5.0 - or cobra

The Firebird is only good if it's a Formula edition!

That being said I'd pick the Camaro Z28, and there are tons of add ons for this car!

They could all make great cars.

The Mustang would be easiest to find parts for, as it's newer than the others, and not uncommon. You can make Mustang's sound REAL nice, but you can do that with just about any car.

Get the Firebird.
It is the same car as the Camaro, but with less miles.

They are more aerodynamic, have higher top speeds, and are better looking than Mustang's.
