I am debating on getting either an airaid cai or bbk black out. From what ived seen the bbk seems better and takes out the small factory path for the air to increase air flow idk if it helps be better than other cai.

I went with jlt and loved it awesome sound and great power even gained a few mpg. Look on American muscle for the cai and tuner combo you save a ton of money that way and you get enrolled in the free tunes for life with bama, can't beat that deal!

Ebgonzalez1,

Great choice! I always recommend CAI and Tune to anyone getting started in the modification game. I would recommend either going with Airaid or JLT CAI and a Bama SCT handheld tuner. This will give you gains of 22+RWHP, better throttle response, drive ability, gas mileage and much more!

Here's a little bit about how we write our tunes. For every Bama Tune we ask you 19 questions about your specific Mustang, including your unique mods and style of driving. This info helps us write custom tunes from the ground-up for your Mustang's mods that will give you the most horsepower that we can safely deliver. We're also constantly developing our tunes! Between our 14 different Project Mustangs and tons of street/track and dyno testing (on our in-house Dynojet 224xLC), we're looking for any minor tweaks to be made that can benefit you guys. We're also part of Fords Technology Transfer Program & Work very closely with Ford to insure that all of our tunes are perfect!

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

I am still worried about the tune but I hear ppl wait and regret not doin it earlier. Just don't want to void the warranty. But am i willijg to wait 5 yrs till warrenty is up. Can u restore to factory and reset a flag so the dealership doesn't know u tuned it? And I know the topic has been killed, but its still hard to make the decision. I'm waiting for the new car to get here. Def gonna do the airaid cai and magnaflow street catback exhaust. Tune is still up in the airthe air. Decisions....

Flashjmg,

The dealership can't necessarily see what you did to the ECU, but they can see that something was changed. Which gives them enough leverage to void the warranty if they want to. However some dealers understand that 99% of the time, whatever the car is at the dealership for is not related to the tune so they won't void your warranty. Your best bet would be to call around to local ford dealerships and see what they think!

I hope this helps.

If I decide to go for 3.73 on my mustang from ford dealership they would need to tune my computer due to the gears. I am sure if done by ford the warranty will still stand? If so if the car needs to go to the dealership for anything that deals with the warranty, can they detect whether it was an aftermarket tune or a dealership tune due to the gears.

I dont think you have to tune the car for a gear change, you just have to change the sensor for you spedometer to compinsate for the different gear ratio.

Does anyone know where i can purchase a CAI with a bypass valve? i cant find any, and i dont want to take the chance of sucking up water, or any other debris. I could have sworn they used to be much more popular years back. Could be wrong!

Hi Stig

I don't think you will have the Hydro lock problem with a CAI on your Mustang because the air filter is located on the high side of the engine compartment.

My 1998 Corvette was always a problem because of the air cleaner sitting on the bottom front of the engine compartment. I had to really go slow and sometimes coast through a deep rain puddle. The "Bottom Feeders" are the one's you have to worry about.

The V6 mustangs are top feeders. ( Unless you remove the hood and sit in a very heavy rain storm.)

Great news! I just suffer from auto paranoia. My brother drives a mazdaspeed 3 and his filter is mounted fairly low so he is searching for a bypass as well

I was looking around for a bypass like you were looking for but didnt have any real luck. Im thinking that the 2011+'s are having good enough luck with the regular CAI's that manufacturers don't see it as worth the time and money for R&D. If you google "CAI Bypass valve" you will get a good selection of "in line" bypass valves. You might be able to get one of these to work for you.

Good hunting!

Do you know where to find one of these online? every time I search for it I just get throttle body spacers.

and The CAI and Tuner combo is the way to go....If you wait till you get 50 posts you will get the 6% discount from AM.... combine that with the CAI and Tune deal and it cant be beat.

Thanks guys! AEM has a really nice bypass for $50 but it has to be used with there CAI which isnt available for 2013 stangs. So ill rig something up.

Corey the mazdaspeed 3 is a really fun car to drive. Completely different car though. The power is much stronger down low because of the turbo. But falls off quickly. Around town the speed feels more powerful than the mustang. If tuned right can surprise a lot of ppl. I hate front drives personally though. So we get to fight it out! Bang for buck the mustang is superior though. You made the right choice!
