Im getting a ford chip next week. Are they easy to install. After i install it do i need to do anything else. Ive heard alot of people talking about programing them and stuff. whats up with that?

Your ford chip is easy to install. All you need to do is take out your computer and install the chip. There is some goop on the prongs where the chip goes, and you need to clean that off. Ill look for a how-to i remember seeing one somewhere. All that tallk about programming, is probably because ford chip does dyno tunes. They tune the chip so that the car runs the best that it can.
Also you need to test that chip out and see how the car runs, you may need to get it reburned if its incorrect anywhere.

Your computer is on the passenger side, under the kickpanel.

1) Disconnect the battery
2) Remove the kick panel
3) Detach 3 connectors from metal retaining bar, move to the side
4) Remove metal bar
5) Remove bolt holding plastic support for the computer
6) Remove connector from computer, there is a socket to unscrew it
7) Remove computer, take case off
8) Clean connector
9) Remove plastic cap so chip will fit (you will see it when you get there)
10) Clean connector
11) Clean connector
12) Install chip
13) Install case
14) Reassemble

FordChip Installation Instructions


The instructions that apply to your application will be included with your chip. This is a listing of all the instructions available.Pictures of how the FordChip installs will be posted soon on the pictures page.



Generic Installation Instructions

Installation Instructions for FordChips

1. Remove the negative battery cable.

2. Locate the EEC on your car (since the locations of EEC's vary, we cannot tell you exactly where).

3. Remove your EEC from the car.

4. Remove the service port cover from the back of the EEC. The side opposite the connector.

5. Take a clean rag and remove any grease on the connector.

6. Take some electrical contact cleaner and, while holding the EEC with the service port down,

7. Dry the connector with a clean rag.

8. Take the enclosed sandpaper and sand the service port connectors until you can see copper.

9. Take the electrical contact cleaner and clean the connecter, on both sides, again.

10. Insert your FordChip onto the circuit board connector in the service port.

If you purchased a single chip, proceed to step 12

11. Take the wire with the switch on the dual chip and route it to your desired location

12. Connect the harness, the 104 or 60 pin harness, back onto the EEC.

13. Connect the negative battery cable back on and start the vehicle to verify that your FordChip

14. Install the EEC back into it's location, taking care not to damage or harm the chip on the

15. Drive the car and have fun.

Well after my dyno I have a bad burn on my Fordchip still running very rich. So I have just spent 400 on a dyno session just to find all my problems and now I have to send my chip back DAMN DAMN DAMN ~~

10 or 12 and 4-5 hours of testing and diagnosis we did all types of test compression, ignition heat rang test, A/F test, O2 sensor test, vacume test. Hell we even test the test. We had one cylinder showing about a 80* difference and found 5 hp by just changing that plug.
