ok so im new to the foxbodys and drag racing in general, but im interested in running my recently aquired 5.0 at the strip occationally. im fairly young and new to this so no bashing please im trying to learn as i go.
ill start with everything that i know about the car...
1990 lx factory 5.0 5 speed.
E303 cam
underdrive pully kit
a/c delete
edelbrock performer rpm intake
holley carb (not sure of the size yet)
new ford racing plug wires
ford racing valve covers
bbk headers to a dumped exhaust
355 gears
hurst shifter but i think its just the chrome shifter kit, not a short throw
bbk control arms and sway bar
weld drag lites but not skinnys in the front
everything else is stock that i know of. i want to keep it a functional somewhat daily driver but be able go to the strip every once in a while and have some fun and hold my own, wile keeping on somewhat of a budget.
any tips, tricks, advice, help, what to do, and what not to do will be greatly appreciated.

Loose as much weight as possible, just strip out all unnecessary weight. Stiffen the car as much as you can afford. And just practice. You've got a good start, but don't expect anything amazing your first few runs while you get the hang of it. Power to weight is very important, and loosing the extra weight is cheap and helpful. You might also want to check into a roll cage.

yeah im not expecting to go out and run crazy fast times, just a weekend hobby to have some fun with. shed some weight and put on some drag radials and i think i could run decent times as it sits. but i also am no expert in this.

If its still got the stock heads i would look into an upgraded set. A set of edelbrocks would work well since you already have an edelbrock intake. Upgraded heads will do a world of difference vs the stock ones

Check under car for subframe connectors you really don't want to be launching hard without them could twist the body of the car. And a drive shaft loop if your gonna run any type of slick
